February 18, 2021

The Emerson Center, Vero Beach 7:00pm

The after-effects of this famous music festival are still reverberating today, over 50 years later.  The albums that were created from the various artists playing during that weekend long party demonstrate the emergence of a new feeling of liberation, freedom and a major cultural shift.  Goldmine Magazine refers to the Music of Woodstock album as “reclaiming a magical moment in time. It effectively illuminated one of the great phenomenons of the ’60s, a historic event of unparalleled proportions that gathered the tribes and gave voice to half a million young people who proclaimed not only their independence, but their cultural credence as well. Thus, the Woodstock generation was born.”  Some of the classic songs featured on the album include Jefferson Airplane’s “Volunteers,” The Who’s “We’re Not Going To Take It,” Joe Cocker’s “With a Little Help From My Friends,” Ten Years After’s “I’m Going Home,” and a medley by Sly and the Family Stone.  Classic Albums Live recreates that seminal music festival note-for-note and cut-for-cut on a journey back to the garden.

Jonathan Edwards & Livingston Taylor

February 25, 2021

Emerson Center, Vero Beach 7PM

Livingston “Liv” Taylor picked up his first guitar at the age of 13, which began a 50-year career that has encompassed performance, songwriting, and teaching. From top-40 hits “I Will Be in Love with You” and “I’ll Come Running,” to “I Can Dream of You” and “Boatman,” the last two also recorded by his brother James Taylor, Livingston’s creative output has continued unabated. His musical knowledge has inspired a varied repertoire, and he is equally at home with a range of musical genres on guitar or piano; folk, pop, gospel, jazz; and from upbeat storytelling and touching ballads to full orchestra performances. A full professor at Berklee College of Music, Boston, MA, where he teaches a Stage Performance course, Taylor exudes a warmth that connects him to his fans. His relaxed on-stage presence belies the depth of his musical knowledge. His moving rendition of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow,” begins in a voice barely above a whisper and the entire audience is invited to join in with delicate and loving devotion to him and the academy award-winning song. Livingston Taylor’s entire performance reminds us all that we too can dare to have our dreams come true by simply wishing on a star.

Jonathan Edwards boasts a highly respected four decade filled repertoire that includes such classics as “Sunshine (Go Away Today),”and “Sometimes in the Morning.” It is said that the way that Jonathan Edwards commands the stage demonstrates that he’s been playing for many years, and his ease and confidence   performing his folk tunes is a real sign of his genuine talent and skill. This is one veteran performer who is neither grizzled nor nostalgic.  An artist who measures his success by his ability to attract and take good care of an audience, Jonathan maintains that it is the feedback he receives after his shows that keeps him going. Audience will recognize an outward maturity and an inner, youthful exuberance combined in an intense and contagious love of life. Between guitar and harmonica, Edwards’ concerts create an environment that make his singing seem effortless with a spontaneous natural occurrence of peace, love and understanding through the gift of music.
